Cynopsis

02/23/06

Good morning. It’s Thursday, February 23, 2006, and this is your first early morning briefing.

FOX will launch My Network TV, a new primetime program network scheduled to debut this fall, designed initially to program those Fox owned UPN affiliates who will lose their affiliate in September with the launch of The CW.  Fox Television Stations, Inc. and Twentieth Television will operate the new venture.  Beginning September 5, the network provide primetime programming Monday-Saturday from 8-10p. There will be no reverse compensation, but rather stations will sign on for affiliation term and agree to a primetime inventory split.  Included among the launch stations are the Fox O&O stations WWOR/NY, KCOP/LA, WPWR/Chicago, KDFI/Dallas, WDCA/Washington, KTXH/Houston, WFTC/Minneapolis, KUTP/Phoenix, WRBW/Orlando and WUTB/Baltimore, representing 24% of the country.  Managed by Roger Ailes, Chairman/Fox Television Stations and Chairman & CEO/Fox News, programming on My Network TV will include the English-language telenovelas Desire and Secrets, both airing in 13 week installments.

* MORE GOOD STUFF *A new online television media buying and selling platform called SPOTBUY.TV will be introduced by MMI Affiliates Corporation at the Four A’s (AAAA) Media Conference in Orlando on Wednesday, March 1. SPOTBUY.TV, designed to refine the media buying and placement process, is a multi-round companion system to the one-round SCATTER.TV system, which was introduced at the AAAA conference last year. SPOTBUY.TV is compatible with the eBiz, XML and Ad-ID standards established by TVB (Television Bureau of Advertising) and AAAA. Over 500 stations, interconnects and media buyers in 150 markets have registered with the program so far.

The Biography Channel will launch an original new series called NASCAR Driver To Win on March 10 at 10p, produced by Biography,  NASCAR and Nascar Images. Each of the 13 episodes in the series focus on one driver’s insider’s view of NASCAR, and their individual efforts to become one of the NASCAR elite.  Participating drivers will include Kasey Kahne, Kyle Busch, Greg Biffle and Carl Edwards to rising female star Erin Crocker.

Comedy Central will launch its first animated mobile series called Samurai Love God.  Set to debut in 2006 with eight 2-1/2 minute episodes, the show has been cast with voices provided by Ed Helms as the Samurai Love God, Jenna Jameson as P-Whip, Lisa Lampanelli as Kay-Ock Block and Christian Finnegan as Chip and James. The series was created by Eric Mahoney.

Turner Classic Movies (TCM) this month launches TCMdb, a media-rich interactive movie database.  The new database will feature content related to more than 130,000 titles and more than 10 million distinct pieces of information, spanning movie history from the 1890s to films currently in production.  The database includes library content licensed from the American Film Institute’s Catalog of Feature Films, with additional content purchased from Internet Movie Database, Inc. and other sources, allowing TCM to include film content from all of the major movie studios.   TCMdb is hosted by the network via its Web site, www.turnerclassicmovies.com, or can be directly accessed at www.tcmdb.com.

The YES Network, DIRECTV, Inc. and MLB.com have reached a multi-year agreement to offer interactive TV content for Major League Baseball on DIRECTV. YES Network broadcasts of New York Yankees regular season games will air in its home telecast market starting in July. Single-screen interactive content, constantly updated statistics, scores, records and other data feeds will be available on MLB.com.
