Horizon Media announced a multi-year strategic partnership with AI marketing data analytics startup Akkio, aimed at streamlining the media campaign process. Horizon will integrate its data platform blu. with Akkio’s AI technology in a collaboration Bill Koenigsberg, Founder and CEO of Horizon, maintains will transform the business. “Our end-to-end blu. intelligence and marketing platform driven by AI brings unparalleled power to enhance how both agency and client-side users interact with data, harness business and audience intelligence, surface insights, and analyze results,” said Koenigsberg. “In short, we are delivering something that the industry has not seen coming and that will enable marketers to navigate the increasingly complex marketing and digital landscape with greater agility and insight.”

Deion Sanders is getting a weekly talk show on Tubi. “We Got Time Today,” produced by Jesse Collins Entertainment, will cover news, culture, entertainment and sports with interviews and celebrity guests. “This show is about tapping into the culture,” said Sanders, former star player and current Colorado Buffaloes head coach. “We’re going to laugh, debate, inspire and most importantly, we got time to talk life into our viewers while keeping things 100.”

WPP struck a global partnership with gaming and creation platform Roblox, building on several years of collaboration on interactive 3D brand content and advertising. The alliance is aimed at helping to scale expertise among agency teams and brands in leveraging Roblox as a new media channel. WPP and its media investment company, GroupM, will join the official Roblox Partner Program as an agency partner to work directly with Roblox to establish a long-term measurement advisory relationship, and Roblox will develop innovative ways for WPP’s creative agencies to utilize Roblox’s platform as a creative engine and partner with Roblox creators. “Roblox is an amazing platform for brands to engage creatively with a young, expanding and valuable audience,” said Rob Reilly, Chief Creative Officer of WPP. “By merging WPP’s creative firepower with Roblox’s innovative environment, we will continue to invent new and exciting ways for brands to connect with the next generation of consumers. Buckle up.”

Canada’s Rogers Communications confirmed on Tuesday that it will be the “proud home” of Warner Bros. Discovery’s suite of English-language US lifestyle and factual brands starting January 1. The move follows Bell’s decision to abandon its legal efforts to block Rogers from distributing the channels. Rogers will launch TV channels for Discovery ID and Discovery and will work with Canadian distribution partners to make the content widely available. In addition, content from Cooking, OWN, MotorTrend, Animal Planet, and Discovery Science will be available on demand and via Citytv+ on Amazon Prime Video Channels.

Ads on Spanish-language TV have been 31% more effective than those on English-language TV over the past year, according to EDO’s “Spanish Language TV Outcomes Report.” SLTV ads were also found to be 24% more likely to generate consumer engagement over the prior period. Other findings include:
· SLTV advertisers realize massive gains in ad effectiveness when they tap into the power of Hispanic culture. Brands like Walmart, Chevrolet, Target, and Miller Lite have generated outstanding results by featuring elements of Latin culture and heritage and Hispanic celebrities in their ads, sometimes outperforming the SLTV average by as much as 10x.
· The impact of Spanish-language TV is made even greater when combined with a highly engaging streaming environment. For example, auto brands advertising on TelevisaUnivision’s streaming service ViX were 29% more effective than their Convergent TV average, and Wireless brands were 18% more effective.
· Brands have performed extremely well when advertising during live sports on Spanish-language TV, particularly when it comes to fútbol. The top-performing soccer games for advertisers were played in England, Spain, Mexico, and Guatemala, with a La Liga clash between Mallorca and Barcelona driving 751% greater ad effectiveness than the SLTV soccer average.
“Effective engagement with Hispanic consumers enhances authentic, culturally relevant campaigns,” said Laura Grover, SVP, Head of Client Solutions, EDO. “Spanish-language networks are far more than a niche; they are a powerful avenue for brands to authentically connect with Hispanic audiences. By investing in Spanish-language media, advertisers can tap into the vibrancy of this growing demographic, unlocking opportunities for meaningful connections and business success.”

Netflix canceled “Kaos” after one season. Jeff Goldblum starred as Zeus in the Greek mythology comedy.

The NFL accounts for 44% of sports broadcast right spend in the US, according to new report from Ampere Analysis that examines the impact the NFL has on subscriber acquisition. The report also notes that the NFL’s off-season, online TV services collectively received an average of 29,000 sign-ups per day since 2020, which increased 77% to 51,000 sign-ups per day during the season (September-February). Streaming services without NFL games saw subscriptions rise by just 2.5% during NFL seasons. The takeaway? “Online TV can thrive even without direct investment in the NFL, acting in a mutually beneficial way with broadcasters by extending the advertising reach of games,” said Ben McMurray, Research Manager at Ampere. “However, if the shift to streaming exclusives continues, online TV will have to either invest directly in rights or provide access to streaming services as an aggregator to continue attracting subscribers.”

Also analyzing sports data is Advertiser Perceptions, which found that there is significant growth and investment happening. In its new sports report, Advertise Perceptions found:
· Over the next 12 months, sports ad spend optimism is highest for live telecasts, with more than 4-in-10 advertisers planning to increase investment.
· Most advertisers are using a combination of Linear and CTV/Streaming inventory for their sports-aligned TV advertising (74%); only 6% use Linear-only and 19% use CTV/Streaming only. While advertisers are navigating the complexities of a hybrid landscape for the foreseeable future, TV Sports advertising is trending away from linear.
· Women’s sports are the stand-out trend in sports advertising in 2024. 95% of sports-aligned advertisers are investing in women’s sports citing various key benefits including the extra positive social benefit to their brands, the expanded reach into unique and desirable audiences and more.
· Men’s sports are still top priority for advertisers, with the NBA, NFL and NCAA men’s basketball and football being the sports/leagues advertisers are aligning with most. However, the current and recent spend for the WNBA came in at 64% which tied for respondents with Men’s Golf at 64% as well.

Fourteen state attorneys general are filing lawsuits against TikTok. In separate but coordinated complaints, the bipartisan group of AGs allege TikTok is psychologically harmful and financially exploiting young users. “TikTok’s platform, designed to be dangerously addictive, inflicts immense damage on an entire generation of young people,” said DC Attorney General Brian Schwalb. “In addition to prioritizing its profits over the health of children, TikTok’s unregulated and illegal virtual economy allows the darkest, most depraved corners of society to prey upon vulnerable victims.” Responded TikTok spokesperson Alex Haurek, “We strongly disagree with these claims, many of which we believe to be inaccurate and misleading. We’re proud of and remain deeply committed to the work we’ve done to protect teens and we will continue to update and improve our product.”

Disney channels have been restored to DirecTV following their carriage dispute, but all the issues between the companies have yet to be resolved. In a complaint filed with the FCC, DirecTV objected to Disney’s requirement of a “clean slate” clause in their contract, which would have DirecTV waive its rights to criticize Disney’s carriage terms as anticompetitive, and ban complaints filed with the FCC. Disney responded by saying DirecTV had misunderstood the clause, and it was routine term not meant to apply to regulatory matters. In a response on Monday, DirecTV said officials at Disney waited until after the FCC complaint was filed to clarify the clean slate language, and said it had supplied Disney with a proposed contract that limited the clean slate agreement to matters involving direct litigation. While the situation is not expected to affect the tentative distribution deal between Disney and DirecTV, if the FCC determines Disney operated in bad faith, a fine could be imposed.

Animated comedy “American Dad!” returns to TBS on Monday, October 28 at 10p. Voice cast guest stars this season include Kevin Bacon, Charles Barkley, Bret “The Hitman” Hart, Gabriel Iglesias, Michael Imperioli, Leslie Jones, Neal McDonough, Joel McHale and Kyra Sedgwick.

“One Hundred Years of Solitude,” a Netflix series adaptation of the novel by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, debuts Wednesday, December 11. The drama was filmed in Colombia with the support of Marquez’s family.

FOX News Media is launching a daily one-hour Spanish-language program, “FOX Noticias,” on Tuesday, October 15. The show will spotlight issues impacting the Hispanic community.

Adult Swim’s “Invincible Fight Girl” premieres Saturday, November 2 at midnight during the network’s action/anime block Toonami. The new action-comedy series follows a young girl who dreams of becoming the greatest professional wrestler of all time.

Chef and TV personality Jake Cohen breaks down the myth that entertaining needs to be difficult in new series “Jake Makes it Easy,” premiering with back-to-back episodes Monday, October 28 at 10p on FYI, as part of A+E Networks’ Home.Made.Nation multi-platform lifestyle programming block.

Live video and e-commerce company XOSQE INC. has signed an agreement to acquire FAST channel creator and distributor Static Waves Media Group. The newly formed entity will operate under the brand name XOSQE Media. “With the acquisition of Static Waves Media Group, XOSQE is strategically positioned to expand its influence in both the traditional and new media spaces,” said Arun Maljaars, CEO, XOSQE Media. “The merging of these companies and the convergence of e-commerce, the creator economy, traditional entertainment, and advanced technology will provide us with opportunities that no other company has been able to collectively and effectively capitalize upon globally.”

Cineverse announced that cineSearch, its AI-driven content discovery tool, is now available for public preview. cineSearch offers an intuitive, personalized search experience across streaming services. Ava, cineSearch’s AI video advisor, provides users with tailored recommendations based on their viewing habits, preferences and the services they use. Developed in part with Google Cloud AI technology, cineSearch has established partnerships with Younify, Vionlabs, Datatonic and Gracenote, a Nielsen company, to help bring the product to market.

Syno International announced a strategic partnership with Comcast Advertising that calls for Syno’s data collection and analytics platform to be integrated with Comcast Advertising’s Signal Authentication service, which aims to provide measurement companies and platforms with a reliable identity signal that can be used across multiple privacy-centric use cases. “By integrating Comcast Advertising’s Signal Authentication solution with our Syno platform, we are offering a game-changing capability that will redefine how measurement is approached in the industry,” said Jokke Nurminen, CEO of Syno International.

Colossus Media has partnered with cybersecurity company Confiant to combat criminal activity online and malicious advertising, integrating Confiant’s cybersecurity technology with the Colossus SSP platform. “Protecting users from online threats and malvertising is a critical priority. Thanks to our partnership with Confiant, we can offer publishers a safer platform for monetizing their inventory, while ensuring that advertisers reach real people in brand-safe environments,” said Lashawnda Goffin, CEO of Colossus SSP, a subsidiary of the only Black-owned publicly traded advertising technology company, Direct Digital Holdings.

Lemma, the omnichannel platform for emerging media, and Taiv, an AI-powered video technology company, announced a strategic partnership that brings together Lemma’s programmatic capabilities with Taiv’s technology, delivering high-impact video ads in bars and restaurants. By integrating the Lemma SSP, media buyers will have seamless access to Taiv’s exclusive inventory through private marketplace deals, featuring familiar 15 or 30-second video creatives. “Partnering with Lemma is a game-changer for the venue-based media industry,” said Tony Siconolfi, Chief Revenue Officer at Taiv. “By integrating Taiv’s AI-driven video technology with Lemma’s powerful programmatic capabilities, we’re transforming business TV to be more engaging, profitable, and easier to manage. Lifetime has acquired “A Carpenter Christmas Romance” to join its upcoming It’s a Wonderful Lifetime holiday slate. The movie is written and executive produced by Sarah Drew, who also penned “A Cowboy Christmas Romance,” which made news for being a holiday movie with a sex scene and went on to become Lifetime’s highest rated holiday title last year.

Freeform’s “30 Days of Disney” kicks off Friday, November 1 at 10:30a with 1986 animated film “The Great Mouse Detective.”

Norwegian Cruise Line struck a multiyear US partnership making it the Official Cruise Line of the NHL. It’s the first time NCL is partnering with a professional sports league and the first time the NHL is partnering with a cruise line. NCL will receive national broadcast exposure on ESPN and TNT through Digitally Enhanced Dasherboards (DED) during the NHL’s regular season and Stanley Cup® Playoffs games. As part of the DED broadcast exposure, NCL will be the presenting sponsor of the first goal of the game with DED creative shown on every NHL broadcast on ESPN and TNT. Fans will also see the NCL brand displayed on camera visible virtual slot in-ice ads during NHL regular season games and Stanley Cup® Playoffs games broadcast on ESPN and TNT in the US.

JSX has become the Founding Partner and official air carrier of the College Basketball Crown, the new postseason tournament taking place March 31–April 6 in Las Vegas. JSX will fly all 16 participating teams to and from Las Vegas, and offer a travel package to fans.

yes Studios’ “Bloody Murray” is being adapted by Cavea+, the first legal streaming platform in Georgia. The deal is the first for yes Studios in the territory, and it will also be the first-ever scripted adaptation of an Israeli series in Georgia.

Kartoon Studios launched Kartoon Channel’s videogame FAST channel through Samsung TV Plus in three European territories: the UK, Italy, and Spain. In addition, through a joint venture with Power Kids, Kartoon Channel will be offered in India.

Sony Pictures Classics has acquired the romantic drama “On Swift Horses,” with rights in North America, Latin America, Turkey, Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia, India, Italy, Australia and New Zealand. The film had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.

   RATINGS

After seven days of viewing on ABC, Hulu, Hulu on Disney+ and digital platforms, ABC’s freshman drama “High Potential” grew to 10.72 million Total Viewers and a 2.20 rating in A18-49 – up 192% and 610%, respectively, over Live+SD numbers.

The four National League Division Series games (Mets-Phillies, Padres-Dodgers) averaged 3.64 million viewers this weekend, reports FOX Sports. In the FS1-era of Postseason baseball, dating back to 2014, this is the highest average through the second game of LDS ever on FOX and FS1.
