Snapchat raised a whopping $537 million, a filing reported on Friday. The disappearing-message app is now worth $16 billion (CNBC), with $800 million in prior funding from Alibaba, Fidelity, York Capital, Glade Brook Capital and other investors. At the Re/Code conference on Tuesday, Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel said the company won’t sell but will instead move toward an IPO. According to Snapchat, it has 100 million users who watch two billion videos per day, and captures 60 percent of smartphone users ages 13 to 34.
 
Facebook jumped on the GIF bandwagon and is now allowing the animated looping vids in its newsfeeds. However, marketers and brands have yet to be granted access. For now, only personal Facebook accounts can drop a GIF link into a status update, where it will play for all of the user’s connections.

Judd Apatow is offering himself up as a Vine director in a contest to benefit New York Collaborates for Autism and Night Of Too Many Stars. Fans can enter for a chance to be directed by the filmmaker behind “The 40 Year Old Virgin” and “Knocked Up” based on their donation level. The winner and a friend will be flown to LA, put up in a 4-star hotel and star in the Vine film from Apatow.
 
Comedian brothers Jason and Randy Sklar have a lot to say about parenting in today’s world. In Ulive (Scripps) newest series Because We Said So!, the Sklars drawn on their own experiences to provide an anti-how-to perspective. Produced by Kids at Play LLC, episodes will be released weekly beginning June 3 and available on Ulive.
 
For this year’s Bonnaroo Music + Arts Festival from June 11-14, music fans can watch live performances, exclusive interviews and behind-the-scenes coverage on Red Bull TV’s platform. The live broadcast will be hosted by Sal Masekela and KROQ DJ Ted Stryker, and will also be available on the Red Bull TV app for Apple TV, Xbox 360, Amazon Fire TV, Samsung Smart TV and Roku devices.
 
After Google unveiled its family-friendly Google Play last week, BabyFirst TV network announced that it will evaluate apps for babies and toddlers and list them under an "Expert Picks" section in the new app experience. The picks will spotlight 10-20 apps that are certified by BabyFirst’s child development experts as being among the best for babies and toddlers. Criteria include age appropriateness, educational value, good reviews and creativity.

Liking a brand on Facebook is the same as giving it an endorsement, new Federal Trade Commission standards say. “Simply posting a picture of a product in social media, such as on Pinterest, or a video of you using it could convey that you like and approve of the product. If it does, it’s an endorsement,” the FTC said in an updated version of the 2009 endorsement guides. “You don’t necessarily have to use words to convey a positive message.” Last year, Facebook banned marketers from giving consumers incentives in exchange for “likes.”
 

 
VC FUNDING + INVESTORS
 

Advertising firm GumGum raised $26 million in a new round of funding, which values the company at $200 million. The latest round, led by Morgan Stanley Expansion Capital, will move along GumGum’s overseas development and continue to create new products for native, programmatic, and social advertising. GumGum’s previous investors also participated in the new investment, including NEA, Upfront Ventures and First Round Capital.

 
 
EXECUTIVE MOVES
 

Univision Communications Inc. (UCI) promoted Carlos Deschapelles to Executive Vice President of Network and Digital Sales. Since joining UCI, he has served as Director Of National Spot Sales, Sales Leader for UniMás and Senior Vice President of the network’s regional sales offices. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President Of Sports Sales.
 
ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE) appointed David Miller to the newly created role of Vice President, Digital Games. Prior to joining ITVS GE, he was a marketing and new business consultant for Indigo Pearl UK.
 
Endemol Shine announced that Mark and Carl Fennessy will become Joint CEOs of Endemol Shine Australia. Endemol Australia and Shine Australia plan to integrate the two entities.
