In a few short years, one of them could be running your company – if they’re not off starting their own.

Many of the best and brightest in the media industry gathered Thursday night for Cynopsis Media’s 2015 Rising Stars Awards presentation. The leaders of tomorrow, representing A+E, ESPN, Tapad, DigitasLBi, Nielsen, Comcast and many more, mixed and mingled at NYC hotspot Dream Hotel on West 16th Street (this group is not all work and no play!) before taking to the podium to pick up their awards and answer the question: “What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?”

That query sparked a range of responses, ranging from funny to poignant. Some of our favorite work-related answers included: “Passion is a privilege,” “You never know who will teach you next,” and “Don’t be afraid to be afraid.” Others broke up the crowd with counsel such as, “My grandmother always told me not to wear a hat, or I would end up bald. And she was right,” “Don’t bother me, just Google it,” and the one that elicited the longest and loudest laugh came from a winner in a neck brace, who cautioned, “Always look both ways before crossing the street.” After the presentation, the crowd continued to hang out, celebrate, and network, nibbling on mini-tacos, bruschetta, lobster bites, chicken skewers, and more.

These young innovators’ experience spans research, sports, digital, content and marketing, whether their focus is ad campaigns, data analytics or digital programming. If these professionals, age 30 and under, are any indication, the future of this industry looks bright indeed.
