The Biebs is saying "Sorry" to Stephen Colbert. Justin Bieber canceled his appearance on The Late Show, tweeting just before the show was scheduled to tape, “My apologies to @colbertlateshow as I won’t be able to make it to nyc tomorrow for the show. I look forward to making it up to you soon.” The pop star also reportedly canceled his appearance at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Dancing with the Stars will return to ABC for its 22nd season on Monday, March 21 at 8p.

The FCC will debut its redesigned website December 10, which the Commission says will offer better functionality, navigation and mobile interoperability.

PRODUCTION AND DEVELOPMENT

National Geographic Channel is gearing up for another Bill O’Reilly historical treatment. Production begins next year on Killing Patton, based on O’Reilly and Martin Dugard’s book, adapted by screenwriter Anthony Peckham (Sherlock) and produced by Scott Free Productions. The production will probe the mysterious death of WWII’s audacious general. Exec producers are Ridley Scott, David Zucker, Mary Lisio and O’Reilly.

Kevin Bacon is set to star in and executive produce a TV reboot of Tremors, the 1990 cult film he starred in. The series is in development from Universal Cable Productions and Blumhouse Productions.

COMING UP

Discovery Channel‘s Racing Extinction premieres Wednesday, December 2 at 9p. The special event, examining mankind’s role in mass extinction, is from Academy Award-winning documentary filmmaker Louie Psihoyos.

The Tony Awards broadcast has been pushed back to June 12. The 70th incarnation of the event will now air on CBS live from New York’s Beacon Theater on Sunday, June 12, at 8p. Noms for this year’s awards will be announced live on May 3.

MSG Network will air A Thanksgiving State of Mind: The Billy Joel Marathon  including seven concerts along with network doc Billy Joel Home at The Garden on Thursday, November 26, beginning at 6a.

Broadway at the White House, a one-hour special that follows four high school students who were chosen to attend an all-day symposium on careers in theater at the White House, will air on TLC on Thursday, Nov. 26, at 8p.

LL Cool J returns to host the 17th A Home for the Holidays special, set for Friday, December 18 at 9p on CBS. For the first time, the annual event will go behind-the-scenes at concert venues to introduce children adopted from foster care to their music idols. Performers include Christina Aguilera, Jason Derulo, Rascal Flatts and Ed Sheeran.

NESN picked up local TV coverage of the first Friendship Four College Hockey Tournament from Belfast, Northern Ireland. The tournament will feature two Hockey East teams and two ECAC teams playing in a Thanksgiving weekend tournament for the Belpot Trophy.

NEW SERIES

On Thursday, January 21 at 11p Showtime will premiere eight-part docuseries Dark Net. The series, which probes the 80 percent of the Internet that lies beyond the reach of regular search engines, is developed and produced by Vocativ, a technology and media company that applies proprietary technology to search and monitor the deep web. Series is created by Vocativ founder Mati Kochavi and exec-produced by Danna Rabin, Vivian Schiller for Vocativ, and David Shadrack Smith for Part2 Productions.

Travel Channel explores some of the most popular TV programs around the globe in the new Planet Primetime. The series, hosted by Karla Cavalli, premieres with back-to-back episodes on Tuesday, January 19 at 8p.

Syfy will debut The Magicians, based on the best-selling novels of the same name, on Monday, January 25 at 9p.

RETURNING SHOWS

Can you tell me how to get to HBO? Sesame Street will launch season 46 on HBO on January 16 at 9a with the boldest changes yet to the show, including 30-minute episodes, new show open and closing songs, an updated set, new segment “Smart Cookies” and new cast member Nina. Season 46 episodes will begin airing on PBS Kids next fall.

TV One is heating things up this winter with the return of Born Again Virgin on Tuesday, December 8 at 9p. The net is gearing up for the new season with a Born Again Virgin marathon, 10a-5p, on Thanksgiving.

Investigation Discovery will debut the next installment of original scripted series Serial Thriller as a two-night event on Sunday, December 6, and Monday, December 7, from 9-11p. The new chapter, The Chameleon, takes viewers behind the true story a small town gripped with fear when a cunning sociopath emerges from the shadows. The third and final installment will air on ID in first quarter of 2016.

Travel Channel explores some of the most popular TV programs from around the globe in Planet Primetime, debuting Tuesday, January 19 at 8p in back to back episodes.

ABC Family, soon to be renamed Freeform, will debut new scripted drama Recovery Road on January 25 at 9p, following the new season premiere of The Fosters at 8p. Based on the young adult novel by Blake Nelson, Recovery Road focuses on a teenage girl dealing with addiction.

KID STUFF

Animation studio TeamTO will open a new facility in southern France before the end of the year. Most animation will move to the new facility, with development, marketing and management remaining in Paris; production is expected to grow by 25 percent next year.

RATINGS

ABC delivered a week-leading eight of TV’s top 20 entertainment programs in A18-49, including American Music Awards at No. 4, Modern Family at No. 6 and Grey’s Anatomy at No. 8.

Heavy news coverage of the Paris terrorist attacks impacted syndication ratings the week ending November 15. Still, top talker Dr. Phil (3.4) managed to match its season high, and a steady Live with Kelly & Michael held on to 2.7 to tie Ellen DeGeneres (up 4 percent) for second place. The only other talk shows that didn’t dip were Wendy Williams, up 6 percent for a new season high of 1.8, and Rachael Ray, up 8 percent to 1.4.

Spike’s first-ever one-hour Lip Sync Battle holiday special delivered 1.8 million viewers and was ranked the top show on cable among A18-49, W18-49 and W18-34.

Last week’s season finale of Bravo Media’s Below Deck garnered 2.3 million total viewers, 1.5 million A25-54 and 1.3 million A18-49, making it the most-watched episode in series history, according to Nielsen Live+3 data. Season three of Below Deck averaged more than 1.8 million total viewers.
