Destination is Direct Response to Seeker’s Millennial Audience Spending 3X More Time on its Space Content
Channel will Feature New Developments from the International Space Station
NEW YORK, NY (May 4, 2018) – Seeker, the no. 1 most-engaged science publisher in the U.S. on social, announced today the launch of ‘Seeker Universe’ – a new digital multi-platform channel dedicated to covering all things outer-space. The new destination is in direct response to Seeker seeing heavy engagement from millennials 18-34 y.o. spending 3X more time on its outer-space content compared to other topics. As part of the channel’s content plan, Seeker will use video assets from space and work alongside the Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS) to identify and feature exciting research taking place onboard humankind’s greatest technical platform — the International Space Station. CASIS is the organization tasked by NASA with managing the U.S. National Laboratory aboard the space station. Through this initiative, Seeker will bring the thrill of rocket launches to its viewers, highlight the promise of science in space, and tap into humanity’s inner desire to explore beyond Earth’s horizons.

Seeker Universe will be distributed across platforms including Facebook Watch, Facebook News Feed, and YouTube. Seeker Universe will feature science experiments from the space station in medicine, technology development, Earth observation, and energy that will help improve life on Earth and provide the tools to explore beyond low-Earth orbit, and well into the galaxy. Seeker plans to cover real-time launches from Kennedy Space Center (FL) and Wallops Flight Facility (VA) in engaging ways for its viewers, educating the science community on the complexity of launch, and the purpose of various missions to resupply the space station. The channel also seeks to work with astronauts (active and retired) to educate viewers on their daily lives, what is happening in space and why we continue to explore beyond Earth’s gravitational boundaries.

“As an insights-driven, audience-first publisher, we couldn’t be more excited to launch Seeker Universe, which was born out of the realization that our space content truly over-indexes with our audience — and no one was going ‘all-in’ on the category,” said Caroline Smith, Seeker’s Chief Content Officer. “We’re thrilled to be able to collaborate with CASIS to give our audience unique access to the scientific innovation occurring both in space and on Earth.”

Seeker Universe was launched to satisfy Seeker’s ever-curious audience’s appetite for space-related content, which accounts for nearly a third of the brand’s 220M monthly video views (Source: internal via platform analytics, Mar. 2018).
