TODAY’S TOP NEWS
 

Talk about 20/20 vision: Over-the-top programming and video revenue will bring in $51.1 billion by the year 2020, according to a new report from Digital TV Research. The revenue predicted in the next five years will nearly double the $26 billion expected to roll in this year. The U.S. will remain the top market in OTT and video revenue, and increase $16.6 billion by 2020 to $19.1 billion. However, SVOD will overtake OTT advertising to become the largest revenue in 2020. SVOD revenue will rise to $21.6 billion in 2020. The 2010 U.S. SVOD revenue raked in $753 million, and it will hit $6.5 billion in 2020.
 
Winona Ryder is the next star to sign on to a Netflix original. She will join the supernatural thriller from Matt and Ross Duffer (horror short We All Fall Down), called Montauk (wt), an eight episode series premiering next year. The brothers will executive produce along with Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen. Plot revolves around a boy’s disappearance in Long Island in the 1980s.
 
Big Brother will return this summer with cross-platform programming for viewers, including a live feed on CBS All Access. The SVOD service will feature every episode and give subscribers a first peek at this season’s houseguests on June 16, before the first interviews air. The reality series will debut with a two-night premiere on June 24 and June 25 at 8p ET. CBS All Access costs $5.99 a month.
 
 

NEW PROGRAMMING + DEALS

 
Comedy Central is ramping up its digital presence with a major launch of the Emmys For Your Consideration campaign. The net will release a slew of TV clips across YouTube, SnapChat, Facebook and ComedyCentral.com. Each platform, which CC says reaches 140 million fans, will get a custom version of the campaign.
 
Lifestyle web publisher Evolve Media LLC acquired Martini Media, a destination that reaches the upscale audience online. “The affluent market is the largest user of digital media,” said Erik Pavelka, Martini’s CEO. “We have seen a significant increase in luxury brands actively marketing to them through the creation of content-led creative that is visually stunning.” Martini Media will remain a separate division under the Evolve banner.
 
Yahoo launched an updated version of its short-form documentary Viewfinder. The first episode, titled Uniquely Nasty: The U.S. Government’s War on Gays, will premiere on June 22 and cover government persecution of gays and lesbians.
 
Multi-channel network and digital distributor ONErpm launched the Brooklyn-based ONErpm Studios for YouTube creators in its network to produce videos free of charge. ONErpm recently reached 700 million views per month on YouTube, and the MCN projects it will hit one billion monthly views with an audience of 20 million subscribers by the end of 2015.
 
Brit TV streamer Acorn TV will exclusively debut both seasons of the Emmy-nominated Poldark. The two seasons feature 29 episodes. In addition, coinciding with the Game of Thrones season finale this past Sunday, Acorn TV added the Before the Throne playlist featuring earlier roles of nine GoT cast members.
