Cynopsis Kids honored the year’s best in children’s, tween and family content at the 6th Annual Kids !magination Awards during a breakfast and networking reception September 19 in NY.

The Joyous Quintet, a children’s act featured on primetime series Little Big Shots, got the morning off on a high note. The uber-talented musicians had the audience clapping along to a medley of tunes including “Firework,” “Take On Me” and “Isn’t She Lovely” that set the mood for a celebration of outstanding cross-platform programming and marketing campaigns.

In addition to our 2017 finalists, Cynopsis Kids honored three Luminary Award winners. Startup pocket.watch’s Albie Hecht and Chris M. Williams were presented with the Content Pioneer Award by SNL star Kenan Thompson, who credited former Nickelodeon chief Hecht with jump-starting his career, noting, “I owe my whole life to you.” YouTube Red creator Juliette Brindak Blake, co-founder of Miss O & Friends, presented the Video Vanguard Award to YouTube Red Originals’ Nadine Zlystra, who said she loves working for a company whose goal is, simply, “to make programs that are awesome.” And the Family Viewing Award was accepted on behalf of NBC’s Little Big Shots by Brita Wagner, NBCUniversal’s director of late night & special programming.

Winners were asked to name their favorite shows growing up, and answers ranged from Fraggle Rock to The Love Boat to Donnie and Marie. But the focus during the morning was what’s new in the kids category. Our future looks bright, indeed.
